I established Shaftesbury Clinic in 2008, and practised acupuncture here for 10 enjoyable and rewarding years, during which time I have worked with 9 different British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) members within the team. Currently my colleagues Philip Rose-Neil, Louise England, Gillie Salter and Darren Haines look after the patients here, as I undertook non-practising status with the BAcC at the end of 2018, in order to look after the management side of the clinic. In 2016-17 I took time out to complete a full time MBA at Aston University, gaining a distinction.
I have been a BAcC member since I was an acupuncture student; I’ve also served as a practitioner member on the BAcC’s Governing Board; and I have worked twice on strategy projects for the organisation, working closely with the Chair, CEO and members, and I have been a BAcC Regional Group co-ordinator for Bedfordshire.
I have a strong interest in research, having carried out primary independent research myself a number of times, as part of both my two Batchelor’s and my Masters degree, in fields of health and psychology; local GP’s views on acupuncture; and business research in South America (entrepreneurship). For this reason I am very interested in the large and growing body of acupuncture research, and I like to write about this and share the primary research references to enable others to access this for their own use and decision-making. I have also been interviewed on local radio about acupuncture and the research and written various articles for the BAcC members’ publication.
Training: 2005-2008 College of Traditional Acupuncture (Warwickshire): Licentiate in Acupuncture and a First Class honours degree (BA) in Traditional Acupuncture accredited by Oxford Brookes (3-years’ full-time), British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB) accredited.
* The British Acupuncture Council is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), which in turn is accountable to the UK Parliament.

Client Testimonials
“I was experiencing sharp pains in the first 2 fingers on both hands for over several months. I attended the Shaftesbury Clinic where I had 3 X 1 hour acupuncture treatments from Philip Rose-Neil. Outcome:- no pain in either hand. Highly recommended”. BB, Bedford
“I would just like to ask you to pass on the news to Philip, who was treating me back in October, that my Embryo Transfer went very well and we are now expecting twins in June. I would like to thank him for not only the Acupuncture, but giving me the focus needed and time/tools to be able to relax. The Acupuncture made my whole infertility treatment a much more focused and relaxing experience and seeing Phil each week really boosted my resolve to make the most of it, whatever the outcome”. Thank you again. ME, Bedford.
“I would definitely recommend Phil and the Shaftesbury Clinic. Phil is one of those great practitioners who can successfully blend together traditional Chinese medicine with a modern understanding of the body and Western medicine. I got in touch with the clinic on the recommendation of my GP to deal with chronic shoulder pain and stress, and have been very pleased with the standard of care I have received. The treatments always feel very relaxed and comfortable, and it’s extremely convenient to be able to have them in my home. I’ve also been really happy with how knowledgeable Phil is — he is not only more highly trained that most in his field, he also has the instincts and passion for acupuncture that comes from growing up watching his father treat people throughout the world. With this combination, I’m not surprised that many other acupuncturists seek him out for treatment, and I feel very lucky that I’ve had the opportunity to work with him”. R Allen.
“I was new to acupuncture and Helen made me feel at ease. Everything was explained in full. I was being treated for back pain and within a couple of sessions I was feeling much better. Helen is a gentle and courteous person”. Tracey Pedder
